A Nuanced Conversation About Mother’s Day
Tomorrow is Mother’s Day in North America and for those of us who have complicated relationships with our mothers, this can be a difficult day.
In our fast-moving world, I believe learning to slow down is a necessity. In a world of quick fixes, endless distractions and striving for our worth, to stop doing, to just be is the first step in coming home to ourselves.
When we explore, we travel through the unfamiliar with curiosity, with the intention of discovering something new. When we approach all aspects of ourselves in this way, we can approach the tender parts of ourselves compassion and we can delight in the joy & pleasure.
We are fallible, we are imperfect. That, my friend, is the human condition. When we can learn to pay attention, to be mindful and notice the things that aren’t serving us and those around us, we open up space to choose to show up differently.
I’m Erin
A woman in the process of coming to know myself, trust myself, and live the life I know is meant for me. I am here, not as an expert, but as a fellow seeker in the process of welcoming home all parts of myself and rediscovering the light within. I’m here as a Yoga Therapist who knows that sometimes when you’re fumbling in the darkness, it helps to have a guide who’s walked this path themselves. I’m here as a human who deeply believes that to reembody our full humanity is the most revolutionary thing we can do for ourselves, our loved ones, and the world.
I believe to show up more fully for ourselves, as a partner, as a parent, as a leader requires us to come to more deeply know ourselves, to hold ourselves with compassion, to turn toward that which we typically turn away from.
